Lonely, quiet Saturday Night
So, Mike went to the South Carolina football game today and here I am at home with the kids. Went and got myself a steak, salad, bottle of wine, and movie. Ate dinner, gave the kids a bath, got them to sleep and am now sitting drinking wine watching Sex and the City. Actually very peaceful! No one asking ten thousand questions, no one crying, no one needing anything, just quiet! I thought I would be lonely, but it's actually kinda nice, ya know? Well, going to go enjoy!

Ugh! 6:45...seriously?
So tired! So first of all, we have a cat who thinks he is an outside cat, so everytime you open a door, he is there ready to bolt. As I was going outside to adjust our inflatable witch in the front yard (love Halloween decorations!), the little devil runs outside. This is 7:30 pm. I tell the husband to not worry about it, he will come back, he always does. After my two men go off to bed, Ella is asleep on the couch beside me and I am watching Grey's Anatomy. I keep my ears out listening for that scratch scratch scratch at the door. Nothing. Ten o'clock rolls around, nothing. By this time I am ready for bed. I get out the cat treats, knowing that the cat is just probably underneath the back deck. Tromp outside in the 50 degree brisk evening, barefoot, shaking the bag like an idiot waiting on the stupid cat. Nothing! So I decide that I can not sit here and wait on the thing to decide he is ready to come back in. I leave the back porch light on (I know, it's stupid, they have night vision), the garage door open just enough for him to get back under and head on up to bed at 10:45. Put the baby down in her bed, look in on Alex and head on to my nice warm, comfy bed. Lay down, get comfy and then hear Ella. Rush into her room to keep her from waking her brother up, who is just across the hall. Lay her down with me, she starts tossing and turning and whining. This goes on for about 15 minutes when I decide to take her back downstairs and try and get her calmed down. We lay on the couch and get comfy and both go to sleep. I woke up around 12:30 make one more pass around the doors to see if the damn cat has come back- back door....nope, garage....nope, look out the front door and see the silouette of a fat cat sitting on the top step looking out into the front yard. Open the door, he comes sauntering in like he has no where to go. Head on back, put the baby back down, get back into bed...ahhh. Of course only got a few hours of uninterrupted sleep until one of our bed bugs woke up and started crying to get in bed with us. Well, it was nice while it lasted! Then as Mike was leaving to go to work, at 6:45, both mine decide it's time to get up! Sheesh! Well, I guess ya gotta get your day started sometime, huh?

Hello and welcome!
So I decided to start a blog about life here in the Duke family household. I sit here at home with Ella, alseep on the floor (she just layed down and went right to sleep), waiting to go pickup Alex from mother's morning out. It's always so quiet with just one kid here. I get a much needed break for those two and a half sweet hours. I love it when I go pick him up and he runs out and exclaims "Cha Chell, you are here!" He loves his "school" and we are so pleased that he is doing so well. We were a little nervous starting him in mother's morning out because for almost 3 years he has just been here with me. Anywho, I am going to try and keep this blog updated with our everyday life. Hopefully it will be somewhat entertaining!
